Introduction
In the first year of communication and multimedia design we were tasked with creating the branding for an artist that isn’t well known yet in The Netherlands. I chose the artist Crush. Since he focusses a lot on talking about psychological problems and seeking help I wanted to try and combine that with the RnB type music he makes.
Inspiration
The use of blue colors distinguishes Crush from other R&B artists, but keeps the fluid and calm atmosphere of R&B. Blue is also associated with sadness which is represented in Crush’s lyrics. In addition, blue is the color of the ocean, sky, water. It is a cooler, non-threatening color. It has a soothing impact on the mind and symbolize calmness, confidence and creativity.
The message: putting your finger on the sore spot. Making people aware of their problem/issue, and taking the time and discuss. Then showing a comfortable atmosphere through a close-knit group of friends. In that group of friends it’s easier to talk about your problems.
I started with making a logo that would give that mellow, melancholic but chill atmosphere.
